UAV Technology: Indian Defense updates
INDIA: It has been reported that HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.) is all set to enter into a contract with an Israeli company that has a specialization in the field of making autonomous weaponry. These Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles(UAV) will be manufactured in India under the Make in India campaign which has seen increased popularity amidst the tensions along the LAC with China. India has taken this decision seeing the possibility of a two-front war with China as well as Pakistan.
The Heron designed by the Israeli Aerospace Industries is one of a kind of UAV that has an automated takeoff and landing ability in harsh weather conditions. The heron could reach a high altitude of 30000 ft and helps the user in accessing real-time information on the battlefield and that too with the unique capability of surveillance of large areas in a short span of time.
The Heron UAV was initially used by the Indian Air force for high altitude surveillance and maritime patrolling missions but now
threats looming around, the Indian Air Force has decided that it would
be used for striking down enemies as well. According to viable sources
the Heron would be fitted with indigenously developed missiles, with
this the Indian Air force has given a strong message to the enemies of
India.
